Xin Niang, once a street beggar, is taken in by the wealthy Zhang family of Emerald Hill. She grows into a refined and sensible young woman, one who values loyalty and relationships, while still retaining her bold and spirited nature from childhood.

Anna, regarded as a bringer of misfortune and sent to live with her grandmother, develops a twisted personality due to a lack of love from a young age. Upon returning to the Zhang family, she throws the household into chaos.

Anya, the Zhang family’s true daughter, was kidnapped in childhood and forced into a life of hardship. After enduring many trials, she finally returns to the family, only to feel out of place.

The fates of these three Nyonyas become intertwined amid the currents of family and love. How will they break free from their constraints and turn their lives around in the face of adversity?

Adapted from the Mediacorp award-winning drama Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story, this Mandarin-language book was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education under the CMOE CPCLL Chinese Extensive Reading initiative for Secondary School students.

It is available in two formats to support different Mandarin reading levels: a novel aligned with MOE’s recommended reading Level 4, and a picture book for Level 3 readers.

改编自新传媒获奖电视剧《翡翠山之小娘惹》，本书由新传媒与新加坡教育部在“中学华文课程泛读丛书”下联合开发，专为中学生设计。本书提供两种版本，以配合不同的华文阅读程度：小说版本符合教育部推荐第4级别，图文书版本则适合第3级别读者。
